In January 2006, I had a phone interview scheduled with Jim, the recruiting manager of a company based in Rochester, NY but he was located in Arizona.

The interview started off well with the usual questions about my background and why I wanted to work for the company. I'm not sure what possessed me to share with him information about my family because it really had nothing to do with the line of questioning, but I'm glad I did.

"My dad is the author of a series of books and for the past several years, I've handled his book orders and email," I said.

"What's the name of your Dad's book?" asked Jim.

"When God Winks," I replied.

There was a pause long enough for me to question the wisdom of my saying anything.

"Oh my gosh," he finally said. "You're never going to believe this."

"What?" I said.

"I just heard him on National Public Radio 10 minutes ago and was thinking I have to go out and get his book," Jim said.

I got the job.

Robin
